Swatch has joined forces with the Dutch-Belgian artist collective Studio Job - a collaboration
coming to life through the new Art Special PUNKxJOB. A perfect match between Swatch’s tonguein-
cheek provocative language as well as its attraction for pop culture objects and Studio Job’s
bold and expressive designs. The result? An iconic pop-punk Swatch statement that is now
available as a 2018 limited and numbered edition piece.

Studio Job’s connection to Swatch goes back to the 1990s, with Job Smeets forming part of the
Ravage design team that created the Swatch Ravage Set - a spirited allusion to one of the world’s
most celebrated couples, Napoleon and his flame Josephine. Common friend Mika inspired Job
with his three Swatch watches KUKULAKUKI and KUKULAKUKU in 2013 and MUMUCUCURRUCUCU
in 2016. The idea of designing a very own Art Special with his counterpart Nynke
Tynagel was born, the concept found in less than no time. “Basically we were looking to make a
Swatch that had never been made before, and to our luck there had never existed a model with
studs on,” said Job. “We wanted a naughty Swatch because the brand is famous for its happy
approach so I really had in my mind that for the first time Swatches would be worn on tattooed
arms.” A word and a blow – PUNKxJOB features white drawings of a shark, a gas mask and a skull
adorned with golden studs on a black background. The artists’ mission to create the underground
version, the scary, naughty, rock ‘n’ roll Swatch is now accomplished, their message is loud and
clear: “Go punk yourself with our Swatch!”
